Part Zwei - Ongoing Lenormand Blog

Had a lapse there. Lasted a bit. Kind of hit an overload point and just stepped back to recharge.

Learning Lenormand is and remains difficult. I got a small mountain of books. Read them all, and they all said the same thing; yet, they all disagreed.

I was confused.

I talked to a couple experts.

I was even more confused.

There were these decks I loved. Artwork that was astounding. Images that inspired. And stuff just didn’t mesh.

There was talk of schools. And then no schools. Language, and concepts. Questions and….

I came from the Tarot world. I learned by digging deep.

There was nothing deep to dig into with Lenormand. It seemed shallow.

My mentor said, “You’re overthinking it. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.”

Some stated that inserts were key.

Then I found that others eschewed the inserts, concentrating on the symbol alone.

And then I heard the secret to the whole thing. I became once again enthused.

Over the last few weeks I’ve discovered a couple gems in the Lenny world.

Scans cannot reproduce the absolute loveliness of this deck. Absolutely lovely.

First off, there’s a comfort to working with familiar art. If you don’t dig big inserts, just a mention, love the art of Pamela Colman Smith, this is for you.

House of Shadows Lenormand

Okay, so years ago I watched Dark Shadows, and The Addams Family. So I am hooked on this hard. Artist Monica Bodirsky captures the spirit (roflmao) in brilliant line drawings.

That said, the card stock is horrid. But one application of Fanning Powder – and the deck now rocks. Don’t overlook it.

No inserts.

I notice it appears on the 'net' to be sold out. Here? Oh yeah...I have just a few copies on hand. Grab them now.
