Reproduction of an 18th century German tarock pack, originally published by Peter Friedrich Ulrich of Leipzig. According to the accompanying documentation, the trump card illustrations were produced by Ulrich by having the copperplates of a famous edition of the La Fontaine fables selectively copied. The court cards of the four suits represent the peoples of four continents -- Europe, North America, Asia, and Africa.
