Primarily designed for shadow work using an enchanted forest theme, Graham and Larson's Dark Wood Tarot employs muted colors and an angular illustration style to imbue their deck with both intrigue and foreboding. Images of men are relatively sparse throughout the deck, with many traditionally male cards being represented by females or animals. Designed as a tool to "lead you through the darkness and into the light", most of the illustrations are heavily character- and story-driven, with just enough symbolism in the periphery to keep the deck grounded in tarot's historical psychoesoteric underpinnings.
