This is neither a tarot nor a cartomantic deck, but we ended up with a copy that was presented to us as such, so -- into the online database it goes. This is a very lovely reproduction of a 16th-century German playing card deck, published in 1967 by Edition Leipzig. Fifty of the original fifty-two cards from which this edition was reproduced are housed in the Kupferstichkabinett (Cabinet of Engravings) of the Staatliche Museen, Dresden. The remaining two cards were reproduced from black-and-white copies provided by the Bayerische Staatsbibliotheck, Munich. The four suits represented are books, inking pads, jugs, and vases.
