Subdued Victorian color schemes and lithe, whimsical figures populate a deck that, from time-to-time, feels as though it could have been done by Edward Gorey -- if Gorey did cheery instead of dreary. Somewhat uneven in the skill of its execution, the deck nonetheless succeeds in creating an imaginative world that will no doubt delight many readers and collectors.
