The American Renaissance Tarot

We're always happy to see a unique new theme applied to tarot -- so we're totally delighted by Wirsching and Pille's American Renaissance Tarot. The creators employ a cast of authors and their characters from 19th-century American literature, including works by Melville, Poe, Longfellow, and others. The minor arcana retain the traditional suit titles, but the court cards have been slightly adjusted to "Pioneer", "Queen", "King", and "Missionary". As an added bonus, the packaging for this deck/book set is doubly charming, being formed into the shape of one of those hollowed-out books that sit on shelves and hide treasures inside.
