While beautiful, those seeking a tarot that embraces aspects of Crowley's (or other historical iteration's) Thelema will likely be disappointed upon viewing the Thelema Tarot. This is not to say that the deck is without merit -- rather, simply that perhaps it is misnamed. No Egyptian deities are to be found in these 78 tableaus; the characters depicted in Renata Lechner's illustrations are of the Medieval-European-based fantasy variety. As a result, this deck is most likely to appeal to folks looking for lush and uncontroversial representations of classic symbols, melded with their evolved modern expressions.
