Four Twenty Tarot

If you’re not familiar with the term, “420“ is a currently accepted slang term for marijuana. And while the figures in the Four Twenty Tarot are certainly surrounded by a myriad of cannabis symbolism, the deck slyly offers up more cultural and political overtones than the outer cover itself suggests. To quote from inside the box lid: “The magic this deck can unlock is very powerful, and therefore protected by a very scary and real curse. This curse is activated by unchecked biases and complacency with white supremacy.“ While both the text and illustrations are very tongue-in-cheek, it is clear that creator Julianna Rose has much to say about supporting the cultures and lives of POC in this deck.
