Tarot for Kids

As its title suggests, this is definitely a kid-friendly deck -- suitable for ages from about 5 to 14, but certainly not excluding appeal for older kids and even adults as well. The multicultural imagery is coupled with more "subdued" card titles, such as "Change" for "Death" and "The Bully" for "The Devil. One somewhat odd aspect of the deck is the size of the cards, which measure 3.75" x 5.5" (9.5 x 14 cm); it would seem that a deck for "smaller people" with smaller hands would run towards a smaller size. Perhaps, however, there's something to be said for using this deck as a storytelling tool, with less emphasis on reading the cards, even though the excellent guide booklet by Theresa Reed does focus on developing basic reading skills. In any case, this deck has a lot going for it for its intended audience and beyond -- not the least of which is the fact that the images are unbordered, which is always a "plus" in our opinion.
