Inspired by the Marseille structure, and embellished with a world-building backstory, the Tarot Nuages features a cast of characters from a fictional town of the same name as the deck. While the major arcana cards bear the traditional titles, creator Gniedmann has given each representative their own names, such as "Neerel, the Impetuous" for The Chariot and "Solliarn" for The Sun. The images are muted, haunting, and often spiky. A 79th card, titled "The Town" is included.
