While the deck's title is a bit of a misnomer -- its hardly the "original" dog tarot, there have been others -- it certainly has been a while since we've seen dogs taking center stage on the cards. The tarot world seems to have been so obsessed with cats lately that it's refreshing to see a tribute to the canine world, even if it's not the first. And a lovely tribute it is; the cards are fresh and clever, although rather non-standard. The majors have been pared down, reordered, and some renamed; the minors have only three cards each -- the One, Three, and Seven. The artwork is competent and appealing, and the accompanying booklet is a witty read. Here at the Tarot Garden, we give this set Two Paws Up.
