The Steampunk Tarot: Wisdom from the Gods of the Machine

As the name plainly reveals, the Matthews have entered the quickly-burgeoning fusion of tarot and steampunk. It's a tough judgment call when you're not the first to do it -- it's easy to get dismissed as "just another wannabe (or ripoff)". But the creators of the quintessential Arthurian Tarot have managed to pull it off, with a slightly different approach in style and perspective from the Drengsen and Moore decks, with clever suit and card titles that do an admirable job of melding tarot with "retrofuturism". And artist Wil Kingham's illustrations are delightfully reminiscent of the world design found in genre-identified films such as Metropolis and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.
