Originally published in France by Editions du Rocher, an English-language version was later released in 1982 under the title 'The Magic Tarot.' The cards feature two numbering system s, neither of which corresponds to the 'standard' ordering. According to Kaplan's 'Encyclopedia of Tarot,' vol. III, p. 329, '[t]he Roman numeral on each card is symbolic of the quality of the card and the Arabic numeral indicates the stage in the progression along the path of initiation.
