Egyptian-style tarot originally designed ca. 1926 by French theosophist René Schwaller de Lubicz and illustrated by Luci Lamy and Elmiro Celli. The deck consists of 21 cards that largely correspond with the common tarot majors, less the "World" card, plus four additional "witness" cards. According to the accompanying booklet, "...Schwaller had not wanted to provide a divinatory application for his Tarot, as might seem logical, given the premises. Curiously, the French Esotericist conceived and patented these cards as a 'Game Device for a Number of People'". The booklet goes on to provide a general description of how the game was played. Published in two formats -- a large "deluxe" edition and a smaller "art box" edition -- in limited editions of 986 numbered and signed copies each.
