The promotional information for this deck focuses on its use of plant-based and solar/lunar cycles symbolism. Specifically: "This luminescent deck follows the path of the sun and the moon throughout the hours of the day and the night... Each Major Arcana card is associated with a plant and a specific hour of the day. Each Minor Arcana suit is associated with a plant realm and a time of day." Which is, we gotta say, a pretty cool and different way to approach the structure of tarot symbolism. For our money, however, the absolute best thing about this deck is its incredible depiction of characters from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds -- particularly, the amazing BIPOC women and men placed front-and-center for so many cards in a deck that's not strictly BIPOC-focused. Structurally, however, the deck pretty much follows the Waite-Smith template, so its rich, dreamy, and often surreal imagery is still very accessible for both beginning and experienced readers. Published simultaneously in Italy (as i Tarocchi della Foresta) and the U.S.A by White Star and U.S. Games respectively.
