As far as we know, this is the first actual tarot to be published on heart-shaped cards. As might be expected, love is the theme -- but to the deck's credit, the entirety of the compilation avoids descending into endless tableaus of sugary, Harlequin-esque romantic sap. The imagery recognizes that love takes many forms, from the maternal to romantic to the sexual to the hedonistic. While there isn't much groundbreaking going on here, the illustrations manage largely to seem fresh and satisfying.
